Shabnam Salachour, an Afghan refugee and activist in France, shares her harrowing yet inspiring journey. Promised in marriage at age 5 in Herat, Shabnam faced severe trauma due to gender restrictions. To play football a sport forbidden to girls she cut her hair and dressed as a boy. Ultimately, her passion for the game became a psychological necessity, leading her family to allow her to play for her mental health. Today, as a coach in France, she remains a powerful voice for Afghan women and the liberating power of sports.
